Why is it that japanese anime characters.....?!

I saw an interview with one of the Heads of one of the Major Anime Companies!. The Interviewer asked the same Question, "Why the Round Eyes and why do Most characters basically look white!?"!. The Answer the Head Gave was, "This is how the Japanese see themselves"!. The Answer was a little more drawn out than that, but that was the gist of it!. In cartoons, the variety of skin tones, hairstyles, clothing etc!. available far exceeds what would be possible in real life, so a more reasonable question would be: with such possibilities at their disposal, why would Japanese artists draw characters that looked like Japanese people!? What would be the point!? But anyway, many anime characters do have dark skin and narrow eyes!. Here are a few of my personal favourites:

from what i have heard, during the american occupation, when japanese manga creators were starting to look for new ideas, for their stories, walt disney cartoons were being shown, and they also noticed the open wide eyes of the americans and other foreigners who were present in the country at the time!. this helped to influence, ozama tezuka, later known as the god of manga, into creating characters who were very western in appearance!. It's just what appeals to the people who watch them I suppose!. The whole point is often that they are a big leap from reality and I suppose that if the characters looked like someone they might see on the train during their day they would think that was a bit lame!. Some of them look Japanese anyway, it depends on the Manga!. There's some seriously gorgeous men in Japan, it's a shame they don't advertise it to the rest of the world very oftenWww@Enter-QA@Com

They are not asian nor white nor black nor whatever!. They are anime characters-- made-up characters! Pink-colored hair, very strange hair-style, japanese words, japanese food in the show, etc!. If it were asked, it seems that these features are closer to asian than white!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
