Begginer guitar question: Do you play in between the frets or right on them, i&#!

Question: Playing in between to me sounds better, but Noone has given me an answer I cant find the answer on google, The only thing that I have seen when I was watching a video on tapping, he said dont tap on the frets, which implies that you would normaly play on them?

In between, kinda like right behind the fret you want. . . if you're referring to the actual metal pieces going across the neck of the guitar. You will sometimes be able to feel the fret, sometimes not. Your fingers may hurt at first while you learn and practice (especially if you're using an acoustic guitar). But your finger tips will eventually callous a bit and playing will become natural. (It does take a lot of patience and practice to become skilled however) have fun, good luck, and practice practice practice!!!!
