Name of moviemaking technique using only natural light and sound?!
Question:
Name of moviemaking technique using only natural light and sound?
There's a school (not like a college, but a practice) of filmmaking that only uses natural light and sound, and doesn't use overdubs and stuff. An example would be "All the Real Girls". The name even has a number in it, like "77", but I don't know what it is! It may have started in Scandanavia. Something like "Omega 77" or "Stockholm 77" or something like that. It's not as popular in American filmmaking. Please help. I can't remember the name and it's driving me crazy!!!!
Answers:
The "school" that you are looking for is called "Dogme 95" created by Danish director's, including Lars Von Trier. The proposal is kind of tongue-in-cheek, allowing for only natural lights, on set sound, and a real life approach to story telling.
If one of the directors doesn't follow all the rules the director has to submit a list of "confessions".
Also, I hate to disagree with you, but "All the Real Girls" is not Dogme 95. I do, however, think it is one of the greatest movie about relationships ever!
