Why do so many people dislike the White Stripes?!
Question: I find that they are one of the few good mainstream bands out there. Sure, the beats are simple. I think that is just to glorify Jack's guitar playing (which is pretty damn good) I don't know. Maybe I'm just weird because I like them. The sound is so unique and the lyrics aren't like this emo shallow sh*t that's out there nowadays. Does anyone here like them besides me? Why?

I don't know. It's typical that good music is looked past, and the lame old emo music with the long cliche' name is gobbled up.
I don't care if people don't like the WS. It's what I listen to. I've heard a lot worse...

ehh i dunno why, it's not like they're underrated, i mean they're really well known, it's just a lot of people sorta like them but not really. one huge thing about them is that every single song sounds so much different from the last, so it's really hard to label them in a particular genre. also meg white's drumming is rather simple and sometimes off-beat. i like em, or at least some of their songs. i don't have too much stuff by them so whatever, but i do agree they're a good band for the most part.
I don't think their individual musicianship on their primary instruments is all that impressive. However, their songs have an original sound, the lyrics are good, and they really know how to make something their own. I respect them for that.

i love that band!! i like jack's style , the guitar playing kinda reminds me of band Led Zeppelin
I know a lot of people love them...however, i cant stand them because to me they sound like a bad remake of really really bad 80's hairbands that died and shoulda stayed dead.
They are overplayed, annoyingly stupid and have too old of a sound...people I live around love them, but what do you expect, i live in an area that is 20 years behind the mainstream......haha
well mabey its because they CAN'T SING OR PLAY.
