What is the point of concerts where singers mime?!
Question: I was flicking on the TV the other day when I saw a Hannah Montana concert. I kept it on for a couple of minutes and all she did was mime clearly to music. Why do they think they can charge people to see them lip sync?

there isn't! I went to a Britney Concert and all she did was mime badly to the song, waste of money or what!
I don't know if she does or doesn't lip sync concerts, so can't comment on that. But, as for the why someone would...
...because they can. If that's what she does, it seems she's very popular for doing so; there's been lots of news lately about how her concert tour was sold out nearly instantly, and how scalpers are moving tickets for many times face value. Evidently her fans like what they hear and see, pre-recorded or not. The proof's in the pudding: she thinks she can, because... she can, and is.
It is impossible to dance and sing properly at the same time. Most all of these singers lip sync, if not always, some of the time. Also, many of them can't sing the same way as they do on recordings. There is something called 'digital enhancement'.
To the person below: I didn't say it's impossible to dance and sing - I said it's impossible to dance and sing PROPERLY. Try doing some hip hop moves and hitting some of Whitney, Mariah or Christina's high notes. It's not possible, because the movements contract the torso, which restricts the movement of the diaphragm.
from what I've seen its mostly teen idols I don't think they can tell the difference they just want to see them dress like them buy or read any thing about them I don't think I've seen mick jagger or bono are any other big bands lip sync lately and to the person before me it's not impossible to sing and dance at the same time I seen mick jagger do it from front row seats for over 2 hours
