Have you ever wondered what it would be like to hear one band do a song by anoth!

Question: I don't mean the everyday covers that some bands record, and do a fine interpretation.
I'm talkin' about totally different mixed-genre-type things.
For example, I was trying to imagine Metallica doing that old Little River Band tune "Lonesome Loser." They could really rock it if they put their signature touches to it, ya think?
So, indulge me for a moment and come up with some crazy tunes! I prefer 70's though.

I'd like to hear Capercaillie cover Fleetwood Mac's entire Rumours album ~ I think it would be great with that traditional Celtic twist!

The late Eva Cassidy singing Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting' would have been interesting.

As would Robert Palmer singing 'Wolf Moon' by
Type O Negative ~ I love that song, and Robert's voice would have been amazing giving it a 'smooth' rock feel!

Bob Marley doing a reggae version of 'Family Man' by Mike Oldfield.

Nick Drake doing an acoustic version of Led Zeppelin's
'Dazed and Confused', or 'When the Levee Breaks'.

Jethro Tull giving a folksy, flute-driven vibe to
Jimi Hendrix's 'Voodoo Chile {Slight Return}'.

Hmmm... there seem to be a lot of dead artists on my list!

no

why not led zeppelin doing hotel california and then we can all
throw up

Holy Crap KYDave that would be interesting. Not a problem I'm a 70's rocker myself.
How about Sabbath putting the doom touch to Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain"
I would also love to hear Ian Gillian from Deep Purple sing just about any Zeppelin song
A Purple version of "Achillies Last Stand" would probably be especially fine.
How about a Pink Floyd/Yes collaboration...Floyd doin "Starship Trooper" and Yes doing "Echoes"
Great Question, think I will do My own version sometime.

*Edit*
What do You like Blonde
Paris Hilton sing's Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits?

Oh yes.

I'd like to hear Type O Negative do a Gothic Doom metal version of the song "Blue Velvet" [made famous] by Bobby Vinton.
Here's Bobby's version:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=s9e7ot5R6L...
Now imagine that with a doom metal twist on it.

I think Marilyn Manson would also do a really interesting twist on that song. MM always seems to cover a song from another genre and completely make it his/their own.

If Babes in Toyland were still together i'd love to hear them cover "At Last" by Etta James. They were associated with the riot grrrl movement, and a heavy grunge band [Etta James is a blues/soul singer], but i think their version of that song would be great.

ok im just going to be random here.

Red hot chilli peppers putting their signature touch on Stand by me by Ben e king.

Has there been a punk cover of "Venus In Furs" by the Velvet Underground? There should be. I'd also like to hear Bob Dylan do that song as well as "Run Run Run" off the same album. It would almost fit.

Even though I wouldn't want to hear it really, I've always thought the song "The Slider" by T.Rex would lend itself well to a metal artist if they had the right vocalist.

Something really crazy you say... how about Pink Floyd doing "Raw Power" by the Stooges. It would be terrible and I'm sure worth a laugh. Although I'd like to see Lou Reed do a cover of that same song.

The Circle Jerks or another similar band covering Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" might be entertaining.

bands take old songs and "re-master" them. happens all the time.

Jimmi Hendrix "The Star Spangled Banner"

Someone else did "God Save The Queen" in the same style.
