Is anyone else disappointed with Jay-Z's American Gangster CD?!

Question: I only really like Roc Boys (track 6) because of the horns.

Answers: I only really like Roc Boys (track 6) because of the horns.

it wan't that great, but there were....3-4 good tracks...

yes.

not at all.. take a closer listen to

Say Hello
Fallin (how could you NOT love that song, the beat alone...)
American Dreamin
No Hook

(just to name a few... that album is one of jay's top five, but you gotta be able to appreciate the lyrical ingenuity)

Yes coming from the old days rap and R&B artist phase I expected more form him. I think that he should just sit back and be a major producer kind of like the role that emeinem has taken these days.

I think they is too much hype around jay z. He needs to lay low for some time and really work hard towards a final album!!

Not so much disappointed b/c Jay Z is gettin that swagger back we're he can be felt in his music rather than heard. When you can feel music thats real hip hop its just original and wisdom comes with age. Russell SImmons knew what he was doing by givin up his spot to the jigga man.

No did you really listen to that joint that is definently one of his top 5 albums!!!!!!!
every song on that joint is tight
really listen to his lyrics
How could you not like it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people stop hatin on Jay

dis album is da best so farr its got dat unique flavor!!!
its got da beat with em tight lyrics yo dis one here is off da hook 4 real i aint known nobody who aint lyk dis album!!!yo im still hooked on to da roc boys tune -- digg me???..lol

not at all. Everyone was saying that this would be his best album since Reasonable Doubt but it wasn't. When RD came out he was more of a hustler type rapper but with Gangster he is more worldwide known, has Rocawear, part minority owner of the New Jersey Nets and so on so do you still expect him to be talking about drugs and violence ?

After listening to the album and getting the concept, I love the album. It's a favorite at this point. At first I thought it was a disaster, but after seeing the movie and both scripts were identical and Jay-Z did a really good job of captivating his story. I think that he is maturing as a rapper and only gets better with each album. He's hand down the greatest rapper alive!!!
