HOLD UP THERE MISSY!!!!
first convert your song to an mp3
if you bought it, burn it to a CD and rip the track
next, download audacity
and then go to audacitys website and find the LAME mp3 plug-in

then open up audacity and open up your song
crop as nessacery

OR

Open up Windows Movie Maker (comes free on XP and Vista)
Drag the song in
Crop
Save
Drag into iTunes to convert to Mp3 (if thats your current iTunes converesion setting)

Hey if you go to 3guppies.com it's free trust me I use it. You can seen music to your cellphone or pictures. Mostly any file that'll fit on your cell phone. Say you have a favorite song on your computer and want to send it to your phone. The music file is sent to your cell. You can decide the length and the start point(max 25 sec) is really cool and FREE. Check it out

If your phone is from Motorola, you can use a program called Motorola phone tools, depending on your wireless provider yo can by it from them. If you have verizon this is the way to do it.

1. Since most of us have iTunes, I'm going to describe making ring tones with this program. In iTunes, click on Edit in the Menu Bar, then go to preferences.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and the Importing subtab.
3. Under "Import Using", choose "MP3 Encoder." Under "Setting" choose Custom.
4. In the next window, choose a Stereo Bit Rate at or under 32 kbps. Change the Sample Rate to Mono. Click OK twice to close the windows.
5. Now choose the song you want to make a ring tone out of, right-click on it, and choose Get Info.
6. In the next window, click on Options. Here you can adjust the start time and end time. You may need to experiment a few times to get the part of the song you want as a ring tone.
7. After the times are selected, click OK to close the window. Right-click on the song again and choose "Convert Selection to MP3".
8. You will now have two copies of your song. Right-click on the one with the shorter time, click the summary tab to see where the song is located on your hard drive.
9. Open the folder where the song is located. Right-click on it and click on Rename.
10. Rename the song but only change the extension to "mid". For example, if you song is called Crazy.mp3, rename it as "Crazy.mid".
11. Now you're ready to get the song on your phone. Use your email program to send an email to your phone. The email will be sent to "your number"@vzwpix.com. For example, if you number is 123-555-1010, you will sent the email to 1235551010@vzwpix.com.
12. Attach the song to the email.
13. After a few minutes you will get a PIX message. Depending on your phone, you have to save the sound then set it as ring tone, or you can set it as ring tone directly from the PIX message.
14. For some phones, when you e-mail the sound to yourself, it will save under "my sounds," thus, not having the option of setting it as a ring tone. In this case, re-send the file from your phone to yourself as a PIX message. The re-sent sound should then be able to be used as a ring tone.
15. Ask someone to call you and enjoy the sound of your new ringtone!
