My trumpet is clogged up?!

Question: i have a trumpet, and somehow it got clogged. i pulled the valves out to clean them and then put them back in and locked them and now i cannot do so much as to blow any air through the trumpet. all the valves are in the correct place, all are assembled together correctly, and all are locked in to the correct place. what seems to be the problem here? any suggestions on how to fix it?

When you cleaned the valves, did you take them apart? If you took them totally apart, you may have put the valve locks back in the valves backwards. If you did not take them apart and only washed off the bottom part, then you may have put the valves in with the locks 180 degrees off from where they need to be. Some trumpets have valves that seem to be locked in position when they are actually halfway around the wrong way. The other option would be that the valves are in the wrong casings. If your valves don't have numbers on them, then pull out the slides and look down them. This is easiest to do on the 2nd valve. Then press down the 2nd valve while looking into where the slide used to be. The holes on the valve will line up with the holes on the trumpet. If they don't, then they are either in the wrong casing or they are turned the wrong way.

I hope that is all that's wrong.

spit remover

check the numbers to your valves, maybe one is in three, or three is in two, or something like that.

It's all good!

Take it to your section leader, or if you are the section leader, take it to a music store. If everything is assembled correctly, you may have a busted valve.

And I care why...?

blow REALY hard, or stick a drum stick into it. like one of those poofy ones

Take it to a shop.
Or get a branded cleaner or brush. There is lots of stuff to fix stuff like this.

get a gun brush and push it through

Bring it to a instrment shop, and get it fixed.Or buy a new Trumpet and sell your old one on the internet and dont tell them that its clogged up.

I would bring it to the nearest musical instrument dealer to look at. Call first for an estimate.

idk much about trumpets cause i don't really use mine but try running a string through it (take out the values) or a pipe cleaner. hold open the spit valves to see how far the air does get.
if you can't find anything take it to a music shop and have them clean it and give it an acid bath.

1 time.... at band camp.... I got a flute... and stuck it up my pus'sy!!!

The cat still can't walk straight!!!

if u eat before u play then it is probably some food that is stuck in there. sorry to be soo gross. maybe u should take it to you music shop so that they can take it out. if u do eat pretty soon before u play then i would suggest that u don't eat before u play (like stop eating or don't start eating a half hour to an hour)

awe yes a rusty trumpet. well here at triple A musicland we deal with these problems quite a bit, in fact i consider myself an expert on the subject. What your going to need to do is declare a holocaust on that there trumpet and autchwitz it *** till it decides ti unclog its self. NOW DO U UNDERSTND!

Im not certain you got those valves in the right order, or position. if the passage holes are a quarter turn off they would block the air flow.
On the other hand, maybe you lost your gum down the mouthpiece without knowing it - use a flexible tube brush to clean.

take the tunner vales out at the end of it where u drain the spit at ..and see if theres sumthing in there...i had that problem before and i fergot what i did to fix it...but sence ur valvles are in the coreecet placeits hard to say...cause if they aint in right i know it wont work. double check them cause it may be it.even tho u think there in the right place cause sumtimes it may seem like they are when they aint

There is a trumpet snake that you can use that would be available at a good music store. Sometimes they can get clogged when they haven't been cleaned for awhile. Once ever 6 months you should be submersing the entire horn in mild soapy water for approximately 30 minutes. This helps eliviate build up inside the horn. Also you may have a valve installed backwards.

so that's where my gum went!

do u clean it? if not BLOW as hard as u can!!! Its probably spit!! or it could be food try cleaning it. if u are in grade school u probably have the same problem as me i have band right after lunch so food gets in my instrument and i have 2 clean it like ALL the time. :P
