Help!!! I'm bored with playing my guitar!!!?!

Question: I've been playing guitar for 4 months now. I only own 2 guitars. I own a denver acoustic guiatr and and a b.c rich platinum series stratocaster. I technically don't own the B.C. rich I'm just borrowing it. I don't own my own electric guitar.

Lately I've just been playing the same songs over and over again. What new rock songs should I play or how can I make myself less bored with playing guitar. I still love playin guitar and I practice at least 4 hours a day

You should always be learning new songs on guitar, the more challenging, the funner and more proud of yourself you will be when you learn it

there is

One
Beat it
Far Behind
Fade to Black
Smoke on Water
Through the Fire and the Flames (Highly Challanging)
Snow
Enter Sandman
My Spirit Will Go On

You could also listen to rock radio and if you like a song, learn how to play it
Making your own songs won't hurt either!

Hope i helped!

It always helps if you can find friends to jam with.

try a different style of music man, try blues

Do you take lessons? Maybe you could learn some new techniques i.e. picking, using a pedal etc. What type of songs are you playing now? I play the bass guitar, and I get bored from time to time too, it's always good to play stuff that you like. Try looking up the tabuliture for songs you'd like to learn on lyrics.com or do a Google search for guitar tabs. Good luck not being bored! =P

Are you playing mainstream music. If so that's why because its really simple. You should play things with guitar solos and stuff.

This is what I did when I first started to play.... It was in the nineties and was in college and didn't have a P.C. I would go to the nearest music "Instrument" store and look for songs I wanted to learn and take a pen and paper and write the chords down from the books......go home and practice. Be creative you can put your mind to anything if you want it bad enough. Good luck and keep practicing.

I had the same exact problem. When I bought my first acoustic guitar about 7 months ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I learned from the bottom up, all of the basics, but since I didn't have a teacher there was only a certain point I could get to by myself. So at about 3 - 4 months into playing I kinda gave up. I had nothing else to play because everything was too advanced. I didn't quit though, because this is something I really love.

What I did was a couple things:
- All the things I couldn't do I kept on practicing until I did.
- I did some research and found a bunch of new tricks for guitar and I learned them too.
- I learned some more uncommon chords.
- Started writing my own songs. Yeah, this is my favorite part... They don't have to have words. You just sit around messing with a guitar and when something sounds good you play it. Then it just becomes a song. It feels great when you play something that sounds good and you know its your own.
- When I ran out of ideas, or all my songs started sounding the same, I learned some new strumming patterns. Then, I started mixing different ones into songs and maybe adding some pauses. (The songs sound more complex. Plus, they're more fun to play.)

I got my electric guitar just a few weeks ago, but I still like my acoustic guitar better. (I got a B.C. Rich Bronze Series Warlock from an old friend, I could look at it all day =] ) I love playing them both, but I'll always know acoustic is where I started.

Once you know more you'll have so many possibilities you wont get bored. I also play my guitar everyday for hours and really I wouldn't rather do anything else...

If you need some help this is an awesome website. Really easy and the instructions are super clear.

Hope this helps! Playing guitar you always have something to learn so don't give up!!
