What instruments do i need in a band?!
Question: I play Guitar and Trombone and am happy to switch beetween them. I'm starting a band that would play 1980's style rock. I was planing on getting a Bass and a drummer, is anything else essential?

it does really depend on what kind of 80s rock you want to play... think of the kind of 80s bands that influence you and get ideas from them... eg guns n roses had 2 guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and a seperate vocalist during the 80s. tell me the kind of 80s rock you want to play and ill tell you... eg hard rock, 80s punk rock, hair metal etc
okay so its a kind of post punk / new wave sound then... okay... your gonna need the following:
2 guitarists (as you wont be able to play trombone at same time as guitar)
a keyboard and or synthesizer- crucial
bass is not a necessity however my be usefull
your trombone
a drum kit
and of course a mic

my friend is a keyboard player and is in 2 different groups, plus plays for me when we go out and sing together as well. so that instrument gives alot of all types of sounds and fill ins.
You are going to need not just a keyboard player but,a very,very good one,if you really want to do it right.He must also play the synchronizer.And,either he or preferrably your guitarist, should play the Stratocaster.You'll also need a singer that's either a great singer/yeller,(e.i. Robert Plant,Bono),or a pure,strong operatic singer like Steve Perry or Freddie Mercury.Good Lokk Brother!!
