Music Genre. Which group is Metal and Which Group is Rock? BlackSabbath, ACDC, G!
Question: Need YOUR opinion on Metal or Rock for each of the groups listed above. I'm leaning towards Metal, but some think Rock.
Finally, what about Led Zepplin.....as a whole are they Rock, Metal, Alternative, or Blues..if you had to pick one.

Black Sabbath - Metal
AC/DC - Rock
Guns n' Roses - Rock
Jimmy Hendrix - Rock
Def Lepard - Rock
I found this description on a music blog site and I think it explained it very well.
Hard rock: more phallic in nature, sex-driven (van halen, buckcherry).
- Heavy metal: darker themes, world domination, etc. (mastodon, manowar, etc)
All sorts of hybrids between the two, so this is more of a guideline than a rule.

I call Zeppelin classic hard rock
My daughter is in a school of rock, and she has done some of the songs from these groups. It's my belief that Black Sabbath is metal, Guns and Roses and ACDC is metal rock, Jimi Hendrix was rock, DEf Lepard is heavy metal. Led Zepplin I think, is alternative rock.

I'd label Led Zeppelin as "Hard Rock"
sabbath and lepard could be considered metal, but all of them can be considered rock as well. and as to zep, they r most defnitely rock.

Led Zeppelin = Led Zeppelin, they where to all over the map
to categorize, they where rock, hard rock, blues, Celtic,
bluegrass, etc....

Ok, Sabbath and old Def Leppard were early early metal. The rest are classic rock. As for LZ, some consider them to be the FIRST metal out there...I say hard rock.
I don't think I would really classify any as metal. Zepplin is classic rock.

Metal-Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Guns 'N' Roses, and OF COURSE Led Zepplin!! I mean, come on man! They are the root of metal...where it all began!!
Ok. They're ALL Rock Music. Metal is a SUB-genre of Rock Music. Sabbath are metal.
Zepp. Rock...though (along w/ Sabbath), a forerunner to today's metal.

I would consider all of them rock- Hendrix had a blues touch though. When I think of Metal its more Iron Maiden Metallica etc.
