Before YouTube came along, what did you do to explore Hip Hop?!

Question: Let's face it. Youtube has made it easy for anyone to research oldschool hip hop music/ videos. Some of these videos I literally have not seen for years, prior to youtube.

What were you doing before YouTube came along?

How has it helped you to explore the whole Hip Hop genre?

Mostly word of mouth... what was everyone on the street talkin about?
Youtube lets me listen to stuff that i wasn't even alive for... like Rakim, KRS-One, Run DMC etc. And also stuff dat came out when i was just a kid: Nas, Jay Z, 2Pac. It just shows what's influenced today's music i guess.

Well before the internet, people actually came out of their houses WAY MORE often...and you know...the street life just gets to you..

i use to research hiphop on limewire, but now i can jus use youtube to see whos alrite - then i jus download the songs i want - instead of 10 tons of crap like i use to

For a while I just mentioned I liked certain artists and I met people who liked similiar artists and introduced me to others.

I used myspace solely to go check out undiscovered artists for a while but I don't care that much about discovering anyone new now.

Don't you hang out with anyone? People around me play alot of music all the time so its easy to say, "This is cool, who is this?"
