easiest thing to do is go 2 a music shop that sells them and buy a different brand/pair/weight/size and try them out to see which you feel most comfortable with or ask in a music store that sells they
they can help with that, that's why they're there
I reccomend going into a music store and trying out different kinds. Most of the people that work in the drum section don't care if you play around with them. Hell, you can even ask to play their elect. kit with the headphones on so you don't 'disturb' anyone while testing sticks.
I actually don't have a preference. Since I bust sticks easily, I just get those 24 pack or 12 pack sticks made from some unknown brand.
In general, big sticks are heavy. Small sticks are light. Oak is heavy, maple is light, and hickory is in between. Consult drumstick manufacturer websites for technical info on stick weight, however this weight varies by a few grams from stick to stick due to wood density and moisture content.
