I'll listen to the Doors, like you, and will admit online that I have the dreaded Iron Butterfly CD with the drum solo, though I don't know where it is and haven't listened to it in many years.
But liking hard rock doesn't mean you don't like anything else. I'll listen to string quartets. I'll listen to Joni Mitchell. Slipknot might be in my music library, but so is Wilco. Variety is the spice of life. :)
I listen from everything from Between The Buried And Me to the Indigo Girls and all points in between. My moods change and with that comes a desire for different music. It's all good. I don't limit myself to a specific genre.
