Christian/ Rock/Metal?!
Question: Christian/ Rock/Metal!?
I would have thought that the two would have been in contradiction to each other!. Can listeners and fans please explain!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Christian rock and metal is music that is used by christians to evangelize, worship, or otherwise promote a christian viewpoint and christian lifestyle!. Since there are no unique christian bands out there in terms of style or musical approach, christian music can't be classified as a genre on basis of music!.
I, however, want to keep them as far away from me as possible!. I hate proselytizing, condescending people who promote themselves as being one thing (a band who's just there to rock) when in reality all they want to do is try to convince you that their way of thinking is right, and yours is wrong!. It's musical deception, musical fascism!. The only thing that keeps me from going insane about it is that they tend to really suck!. No talent!. It helps me feel better!. Apparently believing in Jesus sucks musical talent out of you!?
I have no problem if you are a christian and you want to rock out!. I listen to bands that are christian, or who have christian members, and many of them are pretty good!. But if you purposefully copy the stylings of a genre to promote your philosophy and your religious beliefs, then I must have some degree of contempt for you right off the bat!.
I like a few of them - Relient K, Flyleaf, Underoath, Demon Hunter, etc!.
99% of all the rest that I hear are all the same though - they sound like this popular secular band or that popular secular band, and all their lyrics are about how they feel so far away from God, or how they love God, or !.!.!. well, that's usually about it!. It pretty much sucks!.
So, I don't think christian metal or christian music is as much a contradiction as it is a mockery, a lie, or just plain sad!.

I am a Christian, and my favorite genre is Metalcore!. There's nothing contradictory about it, unless you're supporting the false statement that Rock is consumed is sex, drugs and alcohol!. I feel that music is primarily about the lyrics; especially when it comes to Christian music, because the message of the song is focused on!. Therefore, if the message is Christian, what is in the least bit contradictory!? Are breakdowns somehow evil!? Is there something that I'm missing!? I realize that many musicians and bands have given Rock/Metal a bad name, but generalizing all Rock/Metal bands as contradictory to Christian beliefs is incorrect!.

It's based on what the band's beliefs are!. There's a ton of amzing bands, with amazing lyrics, but they're not a Christian band!. But there's some that are!. And they claim it!. And they're proud of what they believe in!. I honestly don't see how anyone could defy a band claiming for itself that they're Christian Rock/Metal!.

ok first off i just have to say emery is not metal!. sorry!.
ok i am a huge metal head!. i mean like death metal, tech metal, grindcore, gore metal!. all of the good stuff!. and i am also a very strong christian!. a music style doesn't make something evil!. if the lyrics are christian based i don't see how it can be misunderstood!. nowhere in the Bible does it allude that screaming stuff is a sin!. or using two kick drums is wrong!. or once a song gets past a certain level of craziness it is then a sin reguardless of the lyrics!.!.!.so i guess i can't grasp why people think they do contradict!.
i know there is a lot of dark/bad metal bands but there are alos a ton of bad rock bands and bad rap groups, yet no one questions christian rappers or christian rock bands!. i don't understand why metal always gets hated on!.

Lyrical content has nothing to do with the style of music being played!. If the Beatles had songs about political unrest, they wouldn't be punk!. If Pink Floyd had songs about teen angst, they wouldn't be Pop-Punk!.
This is a serious problem in the metal scene, because thanks to Alestorm, legions of people are convinced that "Pirate Metal" is a legit genre!. A lot of people also confuse bands that sing about vikings with Viking Metal, which gets annoying as well!.
EDIT: I never said Viking Metal wasn't real!. And that's exactly what I mean, Amon Amarth are NOT a viking metal band!. They are a melodic death metal band that people confuse with viking metal because of their lyrics!. I happen to love Amon Amarth, but their is nothing even remotely close to viking metal in their music!. If you want viking metal, I reccomend Bathory and Oakhelm!.
@Lauren: I never implied that Christian was a genre of music!. That would be completely contradictory to my point that lyrics don't decide the genre!. Look at my points about The Beatles and Pink Floyd, if you honestly think that them singing about different things would change the genre of music they play, then you're just wrong!.
I'll define Viking Metal for you folks right now: Viking metal is a style of black metal that is heavily influenced by traditional Scandinavian folk music, see Bathory, the original Viking Metal band!. Amon Amarth are not only NOT anything even close to black metal, but they have ZERO scandinavian folk influence!. If they didn't sing about Vikings, no one would even think to call them Viking Metal; listen to the music, disregard the lyrics, and tell me it isn't melodic death!.

honestly, its a bunch of guys trying to spread christianity through their creative outlet!. nothing contradicting about it!. its like an author writing a book with christian themes

Rock goes with religion!. Death metal is more about being an apostasy or wretched spawn from hell!. Christian rock is a soft alternative for all the sheltered little Christian children!. Metal is the raw hardcore stuff metal was intended to be!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
