(Very) cheap pianos on eBay?!

Question: (Very) cheap pianos on eBay!?
Hi!
I have just started off learning the piano and I have lessons once every 2 weeks!. (I prefer teaching myself in my own time)!.
Anyway, all I have is a small keyboard with 61 keys!.

On eBay, there are quite a few cheap pianos, by cheap I mean £100 and less!. Some aren't in the best condition, but would it be okay just to buy to learn with!. (I'm not going to be the next Chopin!) I also think it'll take me at least another few years before I master the piano, by then I should have more money to spend!.

My question:
Would it be okay to buy one of these cheap pianos off eBay!?
Can you give me any additional tips when buying the piano!?

Thanks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hi there, I think anything would be an improvement on learning piano on a keyboard!.
I personally got mine from my local free paper, it was only 250 quid which I know is more than you seem to be looking at paying but after doing a bit of research on the net about makes of piano etc it turned out to be one of the best uprights you can get!.
I would look local also but there is nothing wrong with using eBay as long as you can go and have a look first!.
Would your teacher maybe be able to go with you and have a look!?
For what they are pianos are so cheep now as there is not that much demand for them, I looked at a few that were £100 and were amazing, people just wanted rid of them as they are so big but others were disgraceful!.

I would personally look for a piano that is OVER STRUNG rather than VERTICALLY if you can, better sound and will generally stay in tune longer, and if you can get one with a SOLID iron frame even better!.
Try some of the below sites!.

If at all possible get a hands-on experience with the piano you are thinking of purchasing before you spend money!. Grab a piano technician or at least a friend that can honestly evaluate the value of the instrument!.

!.!.!. remember that pianos are slightly on the heavy side of things and your 100 pound piano may cost you an additional 250 pounds to move its 400 pound bulk across the country and up and down stairs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think u should not buy it because it is cheap and I don't think priceless pianos would sell them that cheap!. and I think that there is somehtin wrong wit the piano so dont buy it !. and tips for buying a piano is that dont buy it online because maybe the one u bought online would be broken!. So u should buy a piano were u could see it like buy it in the store so that u can make sure it works good and no dirtyness and scratchness!!!! Hope u have fun with ur new piano and chose wisely!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I wouldn't buy a piano on eBay, either!.!.!.Too many unpleasant surprises can occur and you cannot do anything about it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Of course, buying a rather tatty but working piano is fine! As you said, you dont want to splash out on something you're still learning!.

Two tips:

- First of all, I'd start looking elsewhere from eBay!. Do you have a local second hand ad thing, like http://www!.advantage-ads!.co!.uk or http://www!.friday-ad!.co!.uk !? See if either of those are in your area, or find the website of your own!.

If its local, then you'll be able to see it before you buy it, give it a try, and its probably going to be cheaper because they need to get rid of it!.

- If you do buy from eBay, only buy with places where you can collect!. Obviously, it is highly possible to 'post' a piano, but if you can pick it up you have more chance of it still being in one piece! Be careful though, most sellers will not allow you to Try Before You Buy, so make sure its what you want before you buy!.

Hope this helped! xWww@Enter-QA@Com
