Bands like Opeth?!

Question: Bands like Opeth!?
Tall order, but does anyone know of any bands that blend melodeath, prog, and folk the way Opeth does!? Or is Opeth an inimitatable band, with a completely unique sound!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
It's hard to be like Opeth!.!.!.
Here are some that are close:
Atheist (Jazz fusion with death metal!. I think you would like their album "elements")
Cynic (Similar to Atheist!. Check out Atheist and if you like them check these guys out)
Enslaved (Black Prog!. metal)
Isis (Sludge Prog metal)
Joe Satriani (Instrumental Prog Rock)
Outworld (prog metal)
Pain of Salvation (Prog Metal)
Porcupine Tree (Prog Rock/metal)

That's all i got for you!. Outworld is probably the most similar!. Opeth is very unique though!.

EDIT- also I recommend you check out Death's album The Sound of PerseveranceWww@Enter-QA@Com

they are one of a kind man, I really haven't heard another band like them and I haven't come across any Opeth wannabe bands yet!. but if you like progressive metal or melodic death metal check out Dream Theater, In Flames (get Clayman) Symphony X, Spiral Architect, and check out a power/progressive band called Nevermore!.

Tool!? lol, they aren't even close to Opeth they aren't even in the same ball park or that high of caliber musicianship, I am tempted to go into my Tool speech but I am not in the mood!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah I agree with others that Opeth really is a ONE-OF-A-KIND band!.!.!.There are other bands mentioned here that do similar things mixing death metal with prog and folk!. BUT Opeth does it better than anyone!!!

!.!.!.!.and yeah!.!.!.TOOL does not compare to Opeth!.!.!.Tool is freaking awesome and have there own unique sound, but they don't use any acoustic guitars or piano's like Opeth, and they certainly don't do death metal vox!.!.!.but Tool and Opeth are my #1 and #2 favorite bands!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm lucky that I've just gotten into Opeth in the past Month -- So I have a lot of CDs to get !!

I had to cheat and look them up -- It says that their main Influences from the Past & Present are Slayer, Death, Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, King Diamond and Morbid Angel!.

But, none of those really Capture "Opeth" do they !?!?

They are also listed as both Progressive Death Metal &
Progressive Rock!.

I am a total Progger, but I can't help you with Death Metal ( still learning at the Feet of the Great ROXEL :))

But, I totally know Prog Metal!.

The best I can offer is this Site -- maybe you could parse through it and find a Opeth-Like band !?!?

Sorry !!

This is my Favorite Site for anything Progressive --

If you have "dial-up" is may be a Slow load, but it's worth it !!

Oops!! My Site prefers to list OPETH as --

"Tech/Extreme Prog Metal" LOL

so try this one instead --
