Thank you very much for asking!. Don't I have some great information for you!.!.!.
So, to tell you ahead of time, the highest selling single ever was Candle in the Wind 1997 by Elton John, which was a re-release!. The second highest was White Christmas by Bing Crosby!.
In 1998, the website that records this started ecording single sales, and for nearly 10 years, the highest-selling single was Believe by Cher, but only about a month ago, it was sold out by OneRepublic's "Apologize!." This is due to the fact though, that in 1999, people had to BUY singles, but nowadays, almost no one buys singles, everyone who gets them legally uses iTunes, which is cheaper and easier!. So, in conclusion, if Believe was to be released in the past year, it would have definately been the highest selling single since numbers have been recorded!.
And for the songs that stayed on the charts,on the Billboard Hot 100, (US), the longest song was Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men - "One Sweet Day" (1995)!.
I hope that helps you, here's some links to the songs I mentioned:
Cher - Believe - http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=0bTREzJL8!.!.!.
Elton John - Candle in the Wind 1997 - http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=3lG3TPED7!.!.!.
Bing Crosby - White Christmas - http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=Env4WWg0A!.!.!.
Timbaland presents OneRepublic - Apologize - http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=ePyRrb2-f!.!.!.
Well, there you go!.!.!.Enjoy!.
By the way, Belive also holds the record for most weeks at Top 10 (28 weeks)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
