How can one achieve better cord closure and less "overblow"?!

Question: How can one achieve better cord closure and less "overblow"!?
I'm having trouble with cord closure and I seem to be using too much air, which is causing discomfort in my throat!. I've asked others already but I'm just trying to get as many answers as I could to truly choose my direction!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Heya, I had exactly the same problem when I first started singing for money!. I didn't realize the problem until I was singing for 6 hours a day!.

Basically, You need to know the sensation of the glottal!. It's the little pop as your vocal chords open and close!. The way I was taught, was to make a small hiccup sound and hold the breath immediately without moving a thing!. This is the position that your vocal chords need to be in!. They are close together and will produce a far far clearer sound (especially when using amplification)!.

You need to practice singing with this 'set-up' try singing quietly, getting used to the position of the vocal chords!.
also, contrary to most teachers, you don't need to fill your lungs with massive amounts of air, you don't need to use your diaphragm any more than it job it already does (It does it's job perfectly by keeping you alive) the most important thing, is keeping the vocal 'set-up' in this state!.

Saying this!.!.!.!. there is nothing to stop you from using your more breathy voice, if that is what the song needs!. But you are right, singing with minimal breath and closed vocal chords is the healthiest way of singing for sustained periods of time e!.g professionally!.

A good article that touches on this is here!.!.!.
