Someone who pretends to be someone or thing they're not, as an attempt to be unique or cool!. They always have to say the right thing, like everything "cool", dress to fit in the genre of music they like!.

For me it's someone who compromises who they really are to fit into a category and be "cool" or "unique"!. They tick all the boxes to be a stereotypical member of that group when really they are something different!. They attempt to seem an expert in things related to that stereotype when in reality they know hardly anything about it!.
I was accused of being a "poser" because I changed my music style and fashion quickly in around 2 months!. It was a dramatic change and people accused me of being a "poser for being "emo"!. I never claimed to be but people just saw that as the "poser" trait!. I find that whenever people change their views or tastes in quite a short period of time they always get judged!. I'm glad that my true friends saw that I wasn't a "poser" though!.

a person - usually in middle or high school, who is insecure about him/herself and trys very hard not to be a "conformist" or a "prep," by doing things like: purchasing a skateboard or guitar, purchasing a great deal of clothing and accessories from hot topic, and listening to pop-punk bands such as simple plan, yellowcard, etc!. usually, this supposedly "nonconformist" behavior just backfires on him/her, because now he/she is still conforming, just to a different group of people!. so the moral of the story is to be yourself!. to me, a poser (music wise) is someone who says they listen or like a band/artist just so they can be like everyone else

well, i guess if one is faking to like something!.!. or acts/dresses so hard to show everyone that they know everything!
for me, i don't know everything about Rock!.!. and i certainly do have bands that i know nothing of!.!. but then i'd just listen to some songs/albums and get more info

To me it is someone who tries really hard to be something they aren't just to fit in at times and be "cool"!. Like they talk crap saying oh they can do it (take skating for example) then u get them on a half pipe or something and tell them to let it rip and they cant even ollie!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
