Is my amp for my guitar breaking down?!

Question: Is my amp for my guitar breaking down!?
ok well im 13 turning 14 the on the 30th!. i play an american standard
stratocaster!. and play it thru a **** marshall MG10CD practice amp!. which my mom thinks is good for someone whos been playing for a year like i have!. its my only amp and its starting to sound weird!. i use a boss DS-1 distortion pedal with it because the distortion on the amp is horendus!. that gets the bright distorted sound i like and use to play stuff like the ramones, green day, and nirvana!. and starting yesterday with the same setting i have that gets me the bright sound i like it started sounding watered down and i wasnt touching the setting at all and just now when i turned it on it let out a sustained screach that sounded like a banshee dieing and that stayed until i turned it off for a while!. so my mom says its fine and im like wtf are you on crack ( in my head i said that)!. well my dad is getting a new one with me this weekend and what one would you suggest that is loud enough to jam with a bassist and drummer that isnt over 400 bucks!. i was thinking the fender super champ- 15 watts, all tube, 16 "voices", built in effects!. would you recomend that amp or what one would be better for me keep in mind the bands i like to play to and my guitar!. and is my amp now broken or breaking down!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hiya Mate,

Sounds like your amp is on its last legs!. I've had plenty of mates buy similar Marshalls and they've gone too!. It may be just a loose connection somewhere - but if your dads stumping out for a new one anyways I wouldn't worry!

I recently bought myself a Roland Cube 60!. Its got 8 different amp settings (all the way from acoustic to face-melting overdrive), 3 band EQ and built in effects (including a nice chorus sound for those 'Come as You Are' moments)!.

It'll do light jazz to death metal and throughout there's easily enough headroom to annoy the neighbours and their neighbours!. Its not 'true valve tone' but for the price it's a pretty good emulation - I swear by it!.

Check it out: http://www!.roland!.com/products/en/CUBE-6!.!.!.

Or you could even go for the Cube 30 - baby brother!. Still packs a punch but carries a lot easier!.

Hope that helps!

P!.S!. You should have some change to buy yourself a couple of nice pedals too - I use a VOX Wah with the Tweed setting and plenty of reverb; sounds magic!.

yeah
similar things were happening with my crappy practice amp (a fender that had been pretty beaten up over the years before my ownership)
but it could also be ur pedal
u should look into that
a suggest the marshall 15 watt FX amp
i got it 2 months ago
it is a great amp
great clean and distorted sound
its about 170
there is also one with less FX and its about 150
they work great
and sound beautiful with enough power for a small gig Www@Enter-QA@Com

First off, Fender amps are specifically made to be better then all other amps when you play a Fender guitar!.

i have the same equipment as u

and i thought my guitar was broken and i wanted a new one,
but my stepper was the problem
it might be the same or you
so it might not be smart to buy another ampWww@Enter-QA@Com

Perhaps, instead of a new Super Champ, which is a great little amp, take a look at the used amps the music store may have!. Sometimes they may be willing to deal a little, so don't be shy about asking!. This may be a way to move up to a larger amp, without exceeding your budget, or stretching dad's wallet too far!.

If you do go with the Super Champ, make sure to buy the footswitch right away - it's usually not included!.
A friend of mine uses his Super Champ for practice and recording!. For road gigs they run the line output thru the soundboard/pa amp, and you would never know he was using such a small amp!.

PS - Bring along your amp with you to the music store!. Perhaps it can be repaired or traded in!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
