This is titled "It doesn't have to be that way"!. I wrote it about 20 years ago!. It was published and won the American Shakespearian award for that year!. I hope you like it!.
Late at night I hear you scream,
from dreams brought on nightmares wing,
but it doesn't have to be that way!.
You look me in the eyes,
and then you theorize,
of why it's alright to lie!.
You speak of fate,
but lies, disgust and hate,
are standing in the way inside your brain!.
But it doesn't have to be that way,
the winds of fate you know they can change,
nightmares can be replaced by dreams,
silence replaces screams!.
Happiness can be addictive,
but only when it's self inflicted,
or it merely slips away!.
You must begin to civilize,
all the things that you've internalized,
or you will simply go insane!.
But it doesn't have to be that way,
the tide can turn and flow away,
and left behind it in it's wake,
is the dawn of the new day!.
So, it doesn't have to be that way,
on the dawn of the new day!.

she walks this lonely road!.
all alone and no ones there
she has no one so she thinks
and no one is there to tell her of a not so secret afterward
and she feels incompetent to understand
she keeps on walking down this street
wondering what life she keeps
feels alone with everyone unknown
well sometimes these people arent so noticeable
sometimes these struggles are left unchanged but
when you look them in the eye
you see the sad inside
maybe not the problem but you do know the solution
and maybe when they cry
they will tell you an old lie
and they wont be alone anymore!.
they will not be alone anymore!.
she keeps along this lonely road
no one asks her why she doesnt stop to take a break
the bridge is out ahead
and no one stops to let her know
so she keeps walking around in circles
when she finally finds an exit
with no one there to stop her
she might take it
if you dont stop her
and she might regret it
but you wont even know
no you wont even know
when you look them in the eye
you see the sad inside
maybe not the problem but you do know the solution
and maybe when they cry
they will tell you a lie
