People horribly misuse the term Drop C!.
Just like Drop D, Drop C means that the lowest string (bottom E) *only* is tuned down!. So Wikipedia is correct!. This is the correct definition as it has always been used up until recently!.
"Drop C" is a dropped tuning, but it's not to C, what people refer to as "drop C" is actually "Drop D down 1 step"!.
Convention is to list the strings lowest to highest, just so you know!.
EADGBE Standard
DADGBE Drop D, ie, bottom E lowered one step
CGCFAD Fake Drop C, Drop D all notes lowered one step
CADGBE True Drop C, ie, bottom E lowered two steps
It's like the song Broken Wing by Alter Bridge!.!.!. it's played in 'Drop B'!. But it's true Drop B, not Drop D down 1 1/2 steps!.
It sucks that people (fans of Avenged Sevenfold!?) can't seem to get their terminology straight, but I guess "Drop C" sounds a lot sexier than "Drop D down 1 step"!.
And of course, that's what matters!. *eyes rolling*
EDIT: Np30d, you are a perfect example of what I'm talking about!. Half step!? Do you know how to count from E to C!?
*quick tutorial*
From E you go down 1 step (2 frets for us guitarists) to D!. Now go down one more step (2 more frets!) to C!. That's *two* steps (or four frets)!.
Now where exactly do you see a "half step" *anywhere* in that mix!?
Y'know, I bet Google even has a tutorial (maybe YouTube as well!?) on "how to tune down to C"!. Try it!. No, wait, I did it for you!. They still use the wrong terminology, but I guess everyone eats paint chips and listens to Ax7 these days!.
