Question: Janis Joplin's voice seems to change from song to song!?
I was listening to the song called The Roller Skate Song and janis jolpin's voice was so sweet and soft, and then i heard her song called Mercedes Benz and her voice was sooo rough!. It didnt sound ANYTHING like her!.!. I didnt even know it was her til I googled the song! Why is that!? Was it in a different time period or something!?!? Im really curious to know!Www@Enter-QA@Com

There was a singer/songwriter by the name of Melanie who was popular at roughly the same time Janis Joplin was!. She typically sang about social problems but recorded "Brand New Key" (which I had to explain to my daughter years later because she didn't understand what it referred to!. In those days, most roller skates clamped onto shoes that could be opened with a key, which girls usually wore on a string around their necks)!. The song was intended as a bit of humor she could slip into during her performances!. It was her only #1 hit but it actually hurt her career more than it helped because it projected the wrong image of her!. Not Roller Skate that's why it didn't sound anything like her , cause it wasn't!
