Do you like to tell people about yourself?!
Question: Yes, but there's a fine line. I have to go to some social events for work and I often have to have dinner at these events with strangers or very casual acquaintances. I'll tell people what I do so they have a basis for understanding why I'm at the event. Instead of sharing very personal information about myself, I'll start asking them questions about their lives, families, jobs, place of origin--that type of thing. I have a few good stories I'll drag out for strangers and will probably tell them a bit about my family or mentioned my wife and I have been married 30 years, but no personal information in any detail. I work in public, but my personal life should not be the subject of conversation except for things that are non-controversial that will stimulate the conversation like books, movies, extended family, origin of surname, travels, where I/they went to school, sports teams, etc. To converse with a stranger, ask them questions rather than talk about yourself. Just don't ask personal/private questions.

no. i think it sounds so mean, but i hate when people ask me stuff bout myself, like how was your thanksgiving or if i have a boyfriend or little things. i think they should mind their business. i dont ask them nothing, you'd think theyd get the clue! lol gosh that sounds mean, and i really am nice, just dont care to know things about peoples life.--unless i ask, or like them as a person. its usually people at work i dont wanna be bugged by.
only when they ask, than i can go on, and on!
