You know all of those stupid reality shows that we still have today? They were "created" because of the '88 writer's strike! Get ready for even scarier stuff, like "Dumpster Diving for Celebrity Snot Rags" or "America's Lamest Sandcastles"!!
It was hell. The writers get paid for picketing on the street so at least they are making some money. But for the people who work in lighting and sound and all that other behind the scenes stuff, it was awful. No work. No savings to live on. The writers better watch out that their strike doesn't backfire on them. I agree with them though, they should make as much as they can off of the product they made possible. Screw the producers and executives. They aren't the ones on the set at 5:00 in the morning making sure the actors are well-lit and are miked-up.
