If it's the article I'm thinking about it wasn't saying that sesame street today was bad. It was saying that they are putting the first episode of sesame street on DVD and it probably wasn't a good idea.

The reason they don't think it's a good idea is because of the contextual differences between the world today and the world 30 years ago. For example there is a part where a little girl is alone on the street sad because she has no one to play with when a man comes up sees her and how sad she is and asks her if she would like to come back to his house for some milk and cookies. Now at the time he really did give her milk in cookies, but today we would never encourage a child to go with a strange man back to his home.
Other issues sited were the fact that Mr. (Snuff a luff a gus?) started out as a figment of Big Birds imagination and no one else on Sesame Street could see him. They feared this would undermine the seriousness of "mental illness" and halucinations.
Cookie monster "binge eating".
Burt and Ernie, Burt being anti social, Ernie being "simple".

Basically the article had some valid points and some rediculous ones as well, the main thing was that the value Sesame street promoted 30 years ago may not be the same as those promoted today, ideas and views change and parents fear that looking back might undermine the values and ideas they want their children to have today.
