What's happened to MTV's programming?!
Question: I remember watching the first real world and being shocked to see a gay man on tv. Not to mention a white woman and a black man discussing racism so openly.
Did MTV get taken over by new leadership? Who was the exec at MTV during the best years of MTV's life and who is the exec now?
Anyone else agree that MTV has just given up and just cares about the shallow demographic?
It's a shame considering what MTV was and could be.

Yeah... I used to LOVE the Real World... when it was really REAL... and had totally different types of people on there... This season had to be the worst cast yet... I think that MTV is just trying to cater to the young audience more than anyone else now... I hardly even watch it anymore... The only shows that I really watch are True Life and the Real World... I only watch the Real World because I started watching it back at Season 1... I miss all of the videos they used to show, and when they actually had VJs.... I watch less and less of that channel as time goes on.... I'm always hoping that someone will come up with another channel that will be about the music....
I think the network is evolving and they try to touch all issues of life. MTV stands for music television but because of all these reality shows there is hardly any music on, except for in the early morning and trl. Their vaues have changed and so it is up to you as a viewer to decide if you want to watch these programs or not.
