Russel Brand - HIGNFY, what was he doing in the toilet?!

Question: Halfway through a show with a live audience, he says he needs the toilet, disappears for a while, comes back rubbing his gums and talking in overdrive and generally being even more hyper than before.

A car driver can be breathalised whenever the police fancy - surely anyone on TV should be liable to drugs tests - as drug taking by personalities/entertainers seems not only very common, but generally acceptible.

Hi PP Wondered about that when I was watching it!
Could be just his attempt a being funnny, though.

Are you talking about Have I got news for you, last night?

Had to put it off, can't handle that man he totally boiles my blood!!!

Watched it and am I the only one that doesn't find him funny?

I watched it but didn't make the same observation, just thought he went for a wee - you're right, that would've made fantastic tv if the police suddenly jumped on the stage to breathalise him!

I am reading his autobiography at the min- its taken me 3 weeks to get a 3rd of the way thru coz he is just wittering the whole way thru it hurts my head after a couple of pages! I find him very entertaining tho! Yeah he probably went for a fix, they're all at it. Bunch of skanks!

I thought that too, especially on the longer Saturday showing. But it would take a brave man to sit down with Hislop and Merton with any Charlie paranoia going on. Probably just needed a top up.

He does an occasional football column for the Guardian and to be perfectly honest it is crap. Is he suppossed to be a comedian or what? He certainly knows sod all about football. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't take it up the nose.

Kind of see you point... and I am far from a RB fan and have no interest in chemicals...

However, car drivers are in charge of a potentially fatal piece of machinery which requires concentration.

Russel Brand just has to sit and look gormless on national TV. Hardly any risk of physical damage to a viewer (except those who become incensed and chuck the telly out of the window, I suppose)

That does sound suspect, but as far as im aware, he's an ex-addict...so taking drugs wouldnt be so good - esp not if his management found out.
he was probably just taking the mick - and as for the hyper thing....
i think thats just russell..

oh, and i find him more entertaining with the sound down - except the big fat quiz of the year last year - him&noel fielding were utter genius!!

I don't think you get the jist of the program, its like anything for a bit of comedy. The BBC won't allow drugs (on set) therefore, it was probably part of his act for the show.

Somebodies been known to walk off and get a guitar in the past, its one of those programs where anything goes, sharing a similar format to Nevermind The Buzzcocks, but with current affairs over music.

The BBC don't allow bullying either, didn't stop them taking the micky out of Angus Deayton when he had his fling with a 'working girl'.

Even if they were on drugs, as long as these drugs are consumed out of public place and theres no hard evidence, theres nothing the beeb could do about it, what they do in their personal time and space is upto them.

Anyone can take/use/abuse drugs to their leisure where it doesn't affect competition or other peoples lives, its the buying & supplying part that wants to be cracked down on.
