If the 10th Doctor Who told the 5th Doctor that he'd met the Master, why did!

If you think back to 1996 when the 8th Doctor met the Master again he didn't have a beard. When the 10th Doctor mentioned the Master to the 5th Doctor he failed to mention meeting TWO beardless (actually three counting Professor Yana) Masters.
So when the 5th Doctor eventually became the 8th Doctor he would have assumed that the meeting with the Master then (without a beard) was the meeting the 10th Doctor mentioned (he didn't say he had met the Master in his current body only that the Master had no beard). The 5th Doctor may have assumed the "wife" comment to be flippant rather than factual. Alternatly he may have assumed the "wife" was the Rani when the Master and Rani worked together against the 6th Doctor.
Because the 1996 film Master met a conclusive final death the 8th Doctor would have assumed the reference the 10th Doctor made would have been about that incarnation (or perhaps the previous one executed on Skaro under the supervision of the Time Lords who may or may not have had a beard or been married).
Anyway there are probably another hundred plausable reasons why the 10th Doctor did not remember the Master would come. A future echo of the Archangel Network passed through the Paradox Machine. His memory was damaged by the time war (it certainly reduced his age by over 50 years). General bad memory... regeneration issues... lots of reasons!

erm i read somewhere that anything outside the actual series wasnt taken seriously by script writers any way he probably forgot or knew it was coming but didnt know when?
