They are actors. It's as fake as wrestling!
I don't watch it because I actually have a life but I have heard and read items that indicate the same people show up on various shows of that type. Believe it or not, there are groups of people who watch the shows as a job and write reviews and note the people on the shows they are responsible for.
As the first answer stated, they come from central casting at have all the credibility of a professional wrestling match or roller derby contest.

Its all an act, they even had a tv show on VH1 mayb? but the tv show showed how people auditoned and got parts/practiced too. so dont feel so sorry for them

I think that the people and the stories might be semi-real, but it is scriped and rehearsed. They look for the most insane people that they can find, with the craziest stories, and embellish them some. I dont think that the people are actors, I think that they are real people, but kind of told what to say. People dont wanna believe it...but there really ARE people in this country that have the problems that are on that show.
For the people who dont believe it...live in a small town for a while!
