I wouldn't say it was total destruction but it was pretty bad. The Beatles wrote what have become classics now. They need to be sung the way they were meant to be sung and don't mess with it. I know, you are supposed to put your own spin on things, but why mess with perfection. I was really looking forward to last night and was quite disappointed.

and David Cook's version of Eleanor Rigby
If your talking about Kristie Leigh Cook.....it wasn't that good. She should have been gone long ago.
Chakazie did a good job and so did David Cook and Jason Castro.
I didn't really like anyone else.

kristy was beyond horrendous. amanda screamed too much. micahel, ramielle, syesha & others were very borin. david archuleta forgot the lyrics & didnt kno the beatles. hello? u sang "imagine"? he should have sang a slow song, then he wouldnt have butchered it at all.

I didn't think it was total destruction. The country version of 8 days was horrific! No, I don't like country, but that was awful.
i agree with xenon...those were the really good ones, but cheesy's version of she's a woman was good strictly by arrangement alone. otherwise, i completely agree...they butchered the songbook of two legends. how can you blow those songs? how did the little kid (fan favorite) forget the words? not being familiar with the beatles is irrelevant. but tonight will prove the ridiculous nature of popularity because i think he deserves to go home. granted there were some horrible renditions and boring ones as well, but to forget the lyrics to a BEATLES song in the TOP 12 is inexcusable. and if you recall, david cook (im pretty sure it was him) stumbled multiple times before he made it to hollywood and simon told him that he couldnt possibly make that mistake once they got there. the judges went easy on him, they said he fumbled the lyrics in the beginning of the song, but he actually messed up many times throughout the song. kid needs a few more years, but he'll make it through anyway. anyway my prediction is kristy lee cook gettin the boot. shes hot and i like the country vibe, but she bombed last nite and shes been on the hot seat lately.
I love the beatles. The only people i think that really butchered thier songs were David A. and definatly Kristy!

The first girl that answered needs to get shot. how do you NOT like anything by Lennon/McCartney? Seriously? I only really like Eleanor Rigby and I thought the girl who sang In My Life did good, its really supposed to be a pretty song.

The two people that just drove me up a wall last night was David Cook and Amanda. What they did to the Beatles songs was horrible!!!! First of all Amanda was just a mess, I don't know why the judges like her so much, she turned her song into a heavy metal rock version when the Beatles yes were rock but not like that I found it to be horrendous, David Cook was not that bad but I cant stand how he always sings rock I wanted to see something else from him last night and he just over sang and ruined his song too. God I thought the whole night was a mess you really cant mess with the Beatles!! I'm a huge fan of David A but last night boy did he mess it up.
Personally I don't like Lennon/McCartney songs that much so I didn't think that it was total destruction. I actually liked it.
