Did the right person win 'I'd Do Anything'?!

Question: Did the right person win 'I'd Do Anything'!?
I cant see what everyone else sees in Jody, she's too big, too old and too Northern!. She's meant to be a Cockney
She seems to have been the favourite from way back!.
She just doesnt fit the bill for Nancy!.
She can sing and act ok and she's be fine in another show but not Nancy!.
Who voted for her anyway!.
I know Jessie was Irish but she looked more the part as far as Im concerned!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Bren!. "jessie will get another role maybe even an understudy or something"!. Don't add insult to her injury!. She was shafted by a strong northern vote!. If 250,000 Lancastrians cast a vote and then hit the redial button once that's a million votes for their girl!. No voting was possible from the Irish Republic so Jessie was reliant on the support of the rest of the UK,which placed her at a great disadvantage!. Sadly that vote was not able to beat the massive bloc voting of the north!. Jessie's performance on the final night was as near to flawless as it's possible to get!. It even got grudging approval from her two most virulent critics on the panel!. To those who dismiss her performance as wooden I say watch again her duet with Gwion!. It was original it had charm, it had humour, it had movement and it had warmth!. And it connected with the audience in away that Jodie!.s and Sam's duets did not!. This was not a performance by someone's "understudy or something"!. It was a demonstration of how good an exceptionally talented performer can be when set free to live her part on stage!. In my book Jessie Buckley won by a country mile!. An Irish country mile at that!. When Jodie's short contract in the show ends, I would not be surprised to see Jessie take over the role of Nancy!. If that happens then my bum will be on a front row seat!. Until then I wish Jodie good luck in the role!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It isn't so much her size as her personality that makes her unsuitable!. She's capable of showing happiness and sadness, but nothing in between!. I don't really believe anything she sings, and she's only really good at doing melodramatic ballads that should be sung by women at least 20 years older than her!.

Rachel was the best candidate by far!. Jessie has a lot more potential than Jodie does, but I don't know whether she would have been ready in time for the production!. I think it was probably better that she didn't win at this stage, as she isn't emotionally mature enough to cope with criticism or disappointment - just look at her reaction to Jodie winning, and her inability to hide her feelings in the last few weeks!.

Jessie will do well out of this anyway, so it doesn't really matter that she didn't win!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I believe that Jessie should have got the role!. Her version of "As Long As He Needs Me" gave me goose bumps, it was amazing and you could tell how gutted Cameron Macintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber were when she didn't win!. If you recall when Cameron was asked if he was happy about Jodie winning his response was "I'm very happy for Jodie" not really showing how happy he was!.
I agree with Michael A6, the north block voting probably won it for Jodie!.

As for people saying about the cockney accent, Dickens never stated where Nancy came from, at that time London was full of people from all over the place and therefore Nancy doesn't have to have a cockney accent!.

And bearing in mind that times were hard for them, think of the lyrics in Food Glorious Food and Consider Yourself, I highly doubt that Nancy would have enough food to herself to get as big as Jodie is!.

Jessie fans shouldn't worry though, the way Cameron and Andrew were praising her that girl will get a leading lady role in a better musical!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I can't believe you feel like that!. Nancy was a woman who had been around the block a bit!. She was the girl friend of Bill Sykes who used to beat her up and treat her really bad!. Back in those days when woman had a really hard life, even a young woman looked older than her years!. Jodie has a great cockney accent and fits the bill!. The other woman were all too young and looked too inexperienced to play the part of Nancy!. Nancy stood up to the bully Bill Sykes and gave as good as she got, well I think Jodie could do that, but the other 2 girls looked like they would buckle and wouldn't have lasted long in those days!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I voted for her!.
I think she's the perfect person to play Nancy!.
Just because she's got a bit of meat on her bones, doesn't mean that she's not fit to play Nancy!. She's more motherly than the others, more down to earth, been around the block a time or two, and so has all the quality's that make Nancy!.
Jessie's Irish accent was too strong for her to be believable as Nancy, plus she didn't improve from her first audition, in fact some weeks she was terrible, the only thing that did change was the size of her head, she seemed to get very smug and big headed!.
The right one won!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ouch!.!.!.!. too big, too old and too Northern!!! Not very nice of you!. I think she was better than wooden Jessie, who could play someone who required arm movements and a dodgy smile perfectly!.

Jodie could pronounce everything better than Jessie!. One was from Blackpool and the other from Ireland so neither are cockneys!

I voted for Jodie and I'm glad she won! I'm not from the North and the fact that one was from Blackpool and the other from Ireland had no impact on my vote!. People expect Nancy to be from the East End because of the film version not because of the book!.

Not many people seem to agree with you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i picked her out a while ago at the early auditions as having the right sort of accent and manner, shes nearer to the voice as an eastender than jessie !. i didnt seriously think that she would win it and had got used to the idea of jessie being nancy she seemed to be right for it in the end and the judges thought so too!. there was talk early on about someof the girls being too young and they pointed out that in the original dickens nancy was 17, but of course in the film the actress was much older than that!. i thought that jodie sang as long as he needs me better than jessie in the final and was surprised when she was the winner, just because i thought it unusual for someone older and bigger to be chosen!. i see shes said shes going on a crash diet so maybe in 6 months when it opens she will be nearer the right size!. i found it strange looking back on the finalists that were voted off earlier how wrong they actually seemed for the part now!. im sure jodie will do the part justice and jessie will get another role even maybe understudy or something!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think jodie was the perfect person for nancy, i had her pegged to win from the very start!.

as for being too big, shame on you for your comment, in todays world people are developing eating disorders from the whole size zero thing, its about time that someone who is not fat but an average woman in this country won and showed the size 0s of this world that you dont have to make yourself ill to be famous!.!.!.!.!.!.!.you have to have talent!!!!!!!

well done jodie!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I know Jodie - we both appeared together on the ITV gameshow "sing it back: lyric champion"!. we keep in touch via e-mail and she is a lovely warm person who deserves to win!. I certainly voted for her!. as for being "too big" - you should see what size she used to be - before she won "britain's biggest loser"!. there is nothing wrong with a few womanly curves!.

Good luck Jodie!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I really didn't rate Jessie, I just couldn't warm to her!. My husband called her Action Man because of the way she stood and moved!.
I wasn't a big fan of Jodie either but she was the better of the two!. I don't see any reason that Nancy couldn't be 28 and on the large side!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

She was a perfect Nancy

Too big - Nancy would have been big and brash

Too old - Nancy wouldn't have been a young teenager she would have been a little older

Too Northern - Jodie will be doing a cockney accent

Jessie was too young and struggled with the cockney accent!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Too northern!? and too big!? little bit bitchy aren't we!? i think she is a good example that you dont have to look like a super model or be 18 to win these competitions i think she is great and deserved to win, Go BlackpoolWww@Enter-QA@Com

if jessie had smirked once more I wuld have smashed the tv up Jodie was brilliant, just as she was written
By the way are you related to Jessie you seem to be rather too involved for an outsiderWww@Enter-QA@Com

i agree that jessie should of won as she had more going for her in everyway ands mainly the looksWww@Enter-QA@Com

Jodie was the perfect choice!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
