Boston Legal character?!

Is the character Gracie Jane who appeared on her own TV news show and as a stand in for Larry King based upon an actual person in US media or is she a fictional character!. I was just wondering because I am Irish so I wouldn't know and an awful lot of the show does seem to reflect reality!.
